As long time supporters of the Hook-N-Cook-Off, the GRDA generously stepped up as a $1500 sponsor of the community event scheduled for September 13th at the South Grand Lake Regional Airport.  This event is now in its 13th year as a National Cook off and the winner of the competition will be considered one of the best Fish Fry Chefs in the United States.  This year’s event will feature a variety of activities for everyone’s enjoyment.

The South Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce happily accepted a $1500 sponsorship check from GRDA for their Hook n’ Cook-Off event at their August 21st general membership meeting. Board members Judy Florida and Mike Vaughn accepted the check from GRDA Programs & Lake Relations Coordinator Lori Starks as chamber executive director Rusty Fleming looks on.

We will also have a Grand Lake Marketplace full of vendors, a Kid Zone area with inflatable bounce houses and slides, a Car and Bike Show,  plus live music from the acclaimed Lickitty Split band!  All this and some great fish with all the trimmings at an affordable family price. Tasting kits are only $8 at the gate for adults, $7 in advance and $5 for Children.  The gates open at 9:30 and the tasting starts at 11:30 am with festivities wrapping up at 3:30 PM.  The Girlfriends of the Airport will be selling beer; pop and water so just bring your pocketbook and lawns chairs and enjoy the day.

You won’t want to miss the VIP Party, held on Thursday, September 11th, at Harbors View Marina which includes Judy’s famous Shrimp Boil and live music from Coy and the Rustlers.  Tickets are $20 a person and can be purchased online or at the South Grand Lake Chamber Office.
