South Grand Lake Chamber Meeting To Feature Tourism And Internet Marketing

The regularly scheduled meeting for the South Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for Thursday, March 19th, at the GRDA Eco-Systems Building in Langley. The meeting will feature an optional lunch catered by the historic Clanton’s Cafe in Vinita. The meeting will get underway at 11:30am in the Grand Hall on the lower level.

Jennifer KalkmanThe guest speaker for the organization’s third meeting of 2015 will be a combination of Nancy Phillips from the Green Country Marketing Association and Jennifer Kalkman with Digital Generator, LLC. Their field of expertise is in the field of tourism and the impact of the internet in driving visitors to places just like Grand Lake.

Philips career in tourism has spanned almost 4 decades.  Beginning with a Tulsa motor coach company as a tour operator, then transitioning into chamber life, where she spent 25 years at the Tulsa Convention and Visitors Bureau as Director of Visitor Development.  More recently Nancy continues the promotion of northeast Oklahoma, as the Marketing Director for Green Country Marketing Association. Kalkman brings 25 yearsofexperience in marketing and analysis in the fields of banking and tourism, including 13 plus years with the Oklahoma Department of Tourism & Recreation. When Jennifer took over management of TravelOK.com, thesite ranked #26 among state tourism websites – when she left OTRD, the site had achieved the #1 ranking during several months growing traffic to over 1million users per month during peak season. During 2014,TravelOK.com attracted more than 6.5 million users.

TravelOK.com gained a reputation for leading edge digital marketing and was profiled by Google in their Annual Economic Impact Report for 2012and a 2014 Think Google case study covering the successful 2013 digitalmarketing campaign.

Jennifer founded her own digital marketing company in November and the Green Country digital marketing co­ op is the cornerstone of her new business. While Digital Generator focuses primarily on serving tourismorganizations, the company is also handling non-tourism clients including a restaurant chain in Dallas.

The meeting will also feature a post Welcome Back Weekend report from executive director Rusty Fleming. Event planner Jaime Dobbins will be on hand to bring the membership up-to-date on plans for the next major chamber event, the Bootlegger’s Ball scheduled for April 11th.
