Grove LobsterFest 2015 is only days away, and excitement is building for live-auction packages that will whisk some winning bidders away to Paris, Puerto Vallarta or Breckenridge – or even beautiful Grand Lake.
Other lucky winners will take home a Phantom 3 camera drone, a luxurious OKC Thunder experience, or a custom red 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle Roadster. These are just a few of the enticing auction items up for grabs at Grove LobsterFest 2015.
Tickets are still available on-line and at area banks for the popular benefit, set for Friday, June 19, at the Grove Civic Center. Organized by Grove Rotary, LobsterFest supports a wide range of charities and organizations throughout the community.
Presenting Sponsor for the event is the Bank of Grove, which has provided significant support for a number of years.
Tickets to LobsterFest 2015 are $75 per person. Tables for 10 may be reserved in advance. New this year will be the opportunity to reserve a table for $1,000, at which guests will have their own wait staff during the evening.
Donors of the live-auction items held nothing back. The Paris package, donated by the Bank of Grove with assistance from Grand Escapes Travel, includes two round-trip air tickets from Tulsa to Paris, round-trip airport transfers, two hop-on and –off tour tickets, and seven nights at a four-star central Paris hotel.
The Puerto Vallarta “Escape to Paradise,” contributed by Rotarian Bob Corlett, will include six nights in a two-bedroom oceanfront condo and round-trip airfare for two. A mountain retreat to Breckenridge, donated by Rotarian Jim and Marilyn Conner, includes six nights in a two-bedroom condo in the Colorado ski resort town.
Among the Grand Lake packages are an outdoor shrimp boil for 12, a lakeside barbecue party for 20 and four-hour pontoon cruise, and a “big kid party” for 25 transported by the Grove Ridgerunner trolley from one entertainment venue to another.
Donated by Grove Dental Associates, the Phantom 3 drone from DJI shoots aerial photos and videos with the latest technology at speeds up to 35 miles per hour and flight time up to 23 minutes.
Basketball fans will be lining up for the “Thunder Experience for 2” package, donated by Jack Wimer of Wells Fargo Advisors. The winning bidder will be dining in style at the Center Court Restaurant, attending the private warm-up of player Kevin Durant, and enjoying the game just five rows behind the Thunder bench. Other details include a Kiss Cam appearance, personalized Thunder jerseys, and halftime and post-game access to the members-only Courtside Lounge.
The shiny red 1974 Super Beetle convertible, donated by Rotarian Dick and Arlene Seybolt, has only 30 miles of use since a complete rebuild. Coming with the Beetle is a new Connelly Softy SUP paddleboard, donated by Rotarian Terry and Debbi Ary.
Many more items will be featured in the live and silent auctions at LobsterFest 2015. Proceeds help support many local charitable and community organizations, based on grant proposals to Grove Rotary. Past LobsterFests have benefited such groups as Grand Lake Shrine Club, Grove and Jay Backpack Programs, Boy Scouts, Bridges of Hope, Grand Lake Area Robotics Education, Laundry Love Project, Grove Public Schools, Daybreak of Grove, Grove Playmakers, Har-Ber Village, Lendonwood Gardens, Space and Ocean Camp, and many more.
