Meet Glory B – a senior miniature pincher available for adoption at Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake. Glory B loves to take car rides and walks. She would love to have a family to call her own. Glory B and all the animals at the shelter are so grateful to Kim Nelson, Shelter Manager, and the wonderful shelter staff and volunteers for the care they give to them each and every day. Following is a poem that tells a beautiful story of gratitude from the eyes of the “Lost and Abandoned Pet”.
“I’m lost. I’m abandoned. I am the one that looks at you through cages, and waits for your kind word. You provide water, food, and your hand to touch me, so I can feel a little more secure, that my loneliness and fear would subside for just a little while. I am the lost. I am the abandoned. I am the eyes that look at you every day.
I come to you filthy, scared, and bewildered. I come to you in all shapes, sizes and colors. I come to you with a broken heart but know that you understand my plight. I am the lost. I am the abandoned. I am the eyes that look at you every day.
You teach me and be with me. You don’t say I am too shy, too dirty, or too broken. You teach me to be most loving and kind. You don’t say like others have said too many times, “There is not enough room and we don’t have the time.” You set an example and let others know that I am worthy. I am the lost. I am the abandoned. I am the eyes that look at you every day.
Because you hold me so precious within your sight, I know that others will see me and it will work out alright. You see that my heart is breaking but you help me. My heart is breaking because my owners left me today, but you give me a safe place to stay. I am the lost. I am the abandoned. I am the eyes that look at you every day.” Anonymous
