NEO-Grove receives technology improvements thanks to President’s Partners
Miami, Oklahoma – Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 – Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College’s (NEO), learning site in Grove recently received significant technology improvements, including computers, on behalf of the President’s Partners program. This program sponsors anything from enhancing the learning environment of students to campus beautification projects.
“The new computers that will be used for instruction at NEO are a much-needed upgrade, in terms of the instructional technologies at NEO-Grove. We worked hard this past fall to upgrade the internet speed and capability, and the computers we had were so aged that they had a hard time keeping up. This generous donation from President’s Partners will be a tremendous asset to the learning and instruction environment at NEO-Grove,” said Shannon Cunningham, assistant vice president of academic affairs.
NEO-Grove also upgraded the Internet to OneNet last fall. The Internet improvements coupled with the new computers help NEO-Grove to be better equipped in terms of learning and teaching opportunities.
“President’s Partners are thrilled to provide state-of-the-art technology that will help facilitate a better learning experience in Grove classrooms,” said Jennifer Hessee, executive director of NEO Foundation, INC.
Due to the heavy use of online streaming video and PC based teaching aids in Grove classrooms, it was necessary to replace the five to eight-year-old computer equipment. The outdated equipment was no longer able to keep up with the necessary computing demands.
“The new computers provide the needed “horsepower” to take full advantage of our recent investment in network equipment and additional campus bandwidth. The large touch-screen computers will become a quick navigating and intuitive interface for the instructor,” Cunningham said. “Creating a better teaching experience for our instructors will make for a better learning experience for our students. I believe these ‘all-in-one’ computers will further that goal.”
