Safe Boating Week 2014 Kick Off is a Success!!
Summer is just around the corner and the Grand Lake Sail & Power Squadron took advantage of the weekend’s fine weather and the proclamation of May 17 – 23 as “Safe Boating Week” to encourage Grand Lake boaters to: 1. wear their life jackets, 2. have their boats safety checked. and 3. have a safe time on our beautiful lake.
Harbor View Marina on Duck Creek was the place to be for a free lunch of hotdogs, chips & water, provided by Judy Florida of Harbor View Marina, and desserts provided by the GLS&PS members. Squadron members Jay Spicer S & Connie Spicer S coordinated the event.. One of the squadron’s best cooks, Larry Toigo, manned the grill while other squadron members, wearing their life jackets to emphasize the jackets’ importance in saving lives on the water, helped out with the lunch or performed free vessel safety inspections.
The Grand Lake Sail & Power Squadron is both an educational and social club, stressing safety on the water. Questions about the squadron or about having your boat safety checked can be directed to: Commander Gene Pett at 918 791 8543.
