harber Museusm logoAlthough temperatures are dropping, Har-Ber Village Museum will host the last weekend of Christmas on Main Street on Saturday, Dec. 21 and Sunday, Dec. 22 from 2-8 p.m.  Area businesses and organizations have decorated 14 buildings along Main Street for the holidays.  Attendees can visit the Main Street area free of admission but can use their coins and currency to vote on their favorites.  Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place decorations.

“We have provided two fire pits so our guests can warm up as they tour Main Street,” said Director Amelia Chamberlain.  “They can also step into the heated craft room to decorate ornaments to hang on the Har-Ber Village Christmas tree or warm up with some hot chocolate and refreshments, which will be sold by Ikon Dance and Cheer.  It will be chilly, but we have worked hard to warm your hearts with this wonderful event.”

Jeannie Wheatley with The Weaver’s Shop at Har-Ber Village will show participants how to create a mini mug rug at the top and bottom of every hour.  Cost to participate is $14; anyone interested may call 918-787-1905 to reserve a time or drop in to weave a mug rug.

Another way to stay warm while having fun is by taking part in the gingerbread house workshop, which will be held Saturday, Dec. 21 and Sunday, Dec.  22 at 2:30 p.m.  All the materials will be provided for participants, who can build and then decorate small gingerbread houses on a wooden platform to take home.  Cost is $17 for non-members and $12 for members.  Houses can be decorated by individuals or by a small group, but no more than two or three people decorating a house is suggested.  Registration forms are due Wednesday, Dec. 18 and are available at www.har-bervillage.com.

Building decorations were provided by Grand Lake Gymnastics, Bank of Grove, Grand Country Pest Control, Grand Savings Bank, The Grove Sun, Grand Lake Casino, Grand Lake Audubon Society, Designs by Dana, Nichols Funeral Home, Draper Construction, The Weaver’s Shop at Har-Ber Village and Har-Ber Village staff members.

Christmas on Main Street is sponsored by First National Bank, Rose & McCrary, Muscari Law, Bank of Oklahoma, REC Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Rich & Cartmill, and Signs by Sikorski.  For more information, or to volunteer to decorate or perform for Christmas on Main Street, contact Har-Ber Village Museum at 918-786-6446  or info@har-bervillage.com.
